These Kentucky Butter Cake Cookies offer a delightful balance of rich, buttery flavor and a tender, cake-like texture. Each cookie is baked to a golden hue, then brushed with a warm, sweet butter glaze that infuses moisture and enhances the decadent taste. A delicate dusting of powdered sugar provides a final touch of sweetness and an elegant finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ Tassen Butter, weich
  • 1 ½ Tassen Zucker, granuliert
  • 2 Eier, zimmerwarm
  • 1 Teelöffel Vanilleextrakt, rein
  • 3 Tassen Allzweckmehl
  • 1 Teelöffel Backpulver
  • 1 Prise Salz
  • ¼ Tasse Puderzucker, zum Bestäuben
  • ¼ Tasse Wasser

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 ½ cups granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined and a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.
  6. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough and roll them into balls. Place them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are set but still soft.
  8. While the cookies are baking, prepare the butter glaze. In a small saucepan, melt ¼ cup butter over medium heat. Stir in ¼ cup granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons water. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and stir in ½ teaspoon vanilla extract.
  9. As soon as the cookies come out of the oven, immediately brush the warm butter glaze generously over the tops of each cookie. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once cooled, dust the cookies with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Ensure butter and eggs are at room temperature for a smoother dough.

Do not overbake the cookies; they should remain soft for the best cake-like texture.

Brush the glaze onto the cookies while they are still warm to allow for maximum absorption.

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days.
