Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb store-bought pizza dough, at room temperature
  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast, diced
  • 4 oz turkey ham, diced
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 large egg, beaten with 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the diced cooked chicken, diced turkey ham, shredded Swiss cheese, and shredded mozzarella cheese. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, approximately 12×16 inches.
  4. Spread the chicken and cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  5. Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seams and ends firmly to seal the stromboli.
  6. Carefully transfer the stromboli to the prepared baking sheet.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped fresh parsley, and Italian seasoning.
  8. Brush the entire surface of the stromboli with the egg wash. Then, brush generously with the garlic-herb butter mixture.
  9. Using a sharp knife, make several diagonal slits across the top of the stromboli (about 1/2 inch deep) to allow steam to escape during baking.
  10. Bake for 25-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
  11. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Ensure your pizza dough is at room temperature for easier rolling and a more even bake.

For an extra golden crust, ensure a thorough egg wash application before baking.

Leftover stromboli can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or air fryer.

Consider serving with a side of marinara sauce or a light green salad.
